A landslide affecting the Third Avenue Bypass, Second Avenue, First Avenue, and White Cliff Avenue occurred at approximately 4:00 p.m. August 25, 2024. Multiple homes have been impacted.
A potential secondary landslide area has been identified south of the original slide location. Response crews are standing by.
A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for homes in the Third Avenue, Second Avenue/Water Street, First Avenue, and White Cliff Avenue between Austin Street and Nadeau Street.
The Ketchikan High School is set up as an emergency shelter. Use Madison Avenue to access the high school.
Emergency crews and Public Works crews are onsite. Dawson Construction has been mobilized to assist with clearing roadways. The power lines have been cleared and grounded. Power service to the area is expected to be out for an extended period of time.
