Parent & Child Program: ages 6 months - 3 years (must be 6 months before the first day of class)
This program consists of two (2) levels that teach infants and preschoolers to become more comfortable in and around the water.
Parent & Tot Aquatics: Designed to help infants and toddlers become comfortable in and around the water. Children and parents will learn the basics of water safety, water adjustment, breath control, assisted floating, kicking and submerging.
Parent & Child Aquatics: Designed for 2 & 3 year olds who have successfully completed the Parent & Tot class and are ready to learn more about becoming independent in the water. Kicking, floating, water safety, water adjustment, breath control and submerging will be taught.
Parents will participate in the water with the instructor for half of the classes (5) emphasizing on teaching your child more about independency in the water.
Preschool Aquatics Program: ages 3 - 5 years (must be 3 before the first day of class)
This program consists of three (3) levels that teach preschoolers of all abilities the basics of swimming and water safety.
Preschool Aquatics I-III: With Support, With Assistance & Independently — Preschool Aquatics has three (3) separate levels where swimmers will learn independency in the water, water entries and exits, buoyancy (floating and rolling), breath control, submerging eyes, mouth and nose (retrieving submerged objects), arm & leg action on front and back, kicking, finning, treading water, safety skills and lifejacket safety.
Learn-To-Swim Program: ages 5 - 12 years
This program consists of six comprehensive levels that teach people of all ages and abilities how to swim skillfully and safely.
LEVEL I: Introduction to Water Skills — Water entries & exits, buoyancy (floating, gliding and rolling), breath control, submerging eyes, mouth and nose (retrieving submerged objects), treading water, arm & leg action on front and back, stroke development, water safety and lifejacket safety.
LEVEL II: Fundamental Aquatic Skills — Water entries in deep water, buoyancy (floating, gliding and rolling), breath control, submerging head fully (retrieving submerged objects), swimming on front and back with combined arm & leg action, finning, changing positions and directions of travel while swimming, treading water, introduction to deep water skills, lifejacket safety, water safety and basic rescue skills.
LEVEL III: Stroke Development — Front & back crawl, treading in deep water, water entries, sitting and kneeling dives, survival float, additional kicks (flutter, breaststroke, dolphin and scissors), elementary backstroke, building endurance and water safety skills.
LEVEL IV: Stroke Improvement — Improve on skills learned in Level 3, diving (compact & stride positions), changing positions and directions of travel while swimming, treading water using 2 different kicks, improving on front & back crawl, elementary backstroke, sidestroke, building endurance, water rescue skills and lifejacket safety.
LEVEL V: Stroke Refinement — Diving from the side of the pool, starts, breath control, treading water for longer times, stroke refinement of front & back crawl, elementary backstroke and sidestroke, breaststroke, butterfly, flip turns, sculling, surface dives, deep water skills and basic water safety.
LEVEL VI: Swimming and Skill Proficiency — Refines the strokes so participants swim them with ease, efficiency and power over greater distances. Level 6 is designed with “menu” options that focus on preparing participants for more advanced courses, such as Water Safety Instructor or Lifeguarding. Endurance along with stroke work and special skills are taught with each component.
These options include: Personal Water Safety, Fitness Swimming & Fundamentals of Diving.
Teen/Adult Learn-To-Swim Program: ages 13+ years
Developed for teens and adults who are ready to swim independently, want to learn more about the different strokes, improve their strokes, build endurance and/or add to their fitness regimen. Our program gives adult swimmers at every level the opportunity to improve their skills in a safe environment – and under the guidance of a trained instructor.
Learn the Basics — Participants will learn basic swimming strokes and skills needed to stay safe, and help keep others safe in and around the water.
Improve Skills & Swimming Strokes — Participants will gain proficiency in basic aquatic skills and the six basic swimming strokes.
Swimming for Fitness — Participants will learn to refine their front crawl, back crawl, breaststroke and turns to build endurance.
