What To Bring

LABELED ITEMS
All clothing, lunch boxes, towels, sunscreen, etc. must be labeled with the camper’s name. KGB Parks & Recreation Summer Camp is not responsible for any items lost or stolen during your child’s participation in our program.  Lost and Found will be kept at the Charter School & Rec Center.  Depending where your child may have left the item will determine which lost and found it ends up at.  Please check both.  At the end of camp, any items not claimed by 8/28 will be donated to local entities.  Unlabeled items will be labeled by our staff, as necessary.

FOOD
LUNCH: The free school lunch program that happens each summer and is held at Schoenbar Middle School is Happening this year but only in June & July.  Schoenbar will be hosting the lunch.  Counselors will walk campers over to Schoenbar daily to eat there.  Everyone will eat lunch at Schoenbar regardless of eating school lunch or a lunch from home.  Then after they will proceed to their next scheduled activity.  In August when there is no lunch program at Schoenbar they will remain at Charter school.  If lunches are not provided at all by the School Lunch program even for pick up then we will work on another solution and possible option for lunch for those Campers that rely on the provided lunch.  Home school lunches will be highly encouraged and more information will be provided soon.
A water bottle is highly encouraged so that your child can stay hydrated!  Water stations are available in Charter School and at the Rec Center. Campers will receive a light snack each afternoon. KGBParks & Recreation Summer Camp is an allergy friendly camp.  We ask all camp families to refrain from sending common allergy snacks so we can keep everyone safe and healthy. All of our counselors have been trained in food allergies and advised of any allergies in their group. Counselors are present while campers eat.

CLOTHING
Campers should wear appropriate clothing for all daily activities. Because of our outdoor activities campers should be prepared with clothing and shoe wear for all weather conditions. Campers wanting to go in the water at City Park when staff allow, will only be allowed to if they come to camp with extra clothing that they may change into if they get wet.

SWIMMING

SEND YOUR CAMPER with their bathing suit: all swims take place on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 1:00 p.m.  Campers will find out which group (A,B,C,D) they are in on Monday mornings which will then let them know which day their swim is.  Campers are to bring their suit/swim shorts, towel, and their own goggles if they wish.  If they show up to camp without these things on their swim day we will try to catch it early in the day and call home to see if something can be brought to them at camp.   This will facilitate a smooth transition for swim time and ensure every camper can take advantage of their full swim time.  Campers do not need to know how to swim to participate.  There is an area where younger campers and those who do not know how to swim will stay in to participate safely.  Swimmers old enough and wanting to go into the big pool may be asked to perform a swim test in front of a lifeguard if the lifeguard has not already seen them perform one.

ROLLER SKATING

Please be sure to send campers in clothing they can comfortably roller skate in.  We will not provide helmets or protective padding however you are more than welcome to send them with such.  Please label their name on it if so.

SUNSCREEN and BUG SPRAY

Parents are happy to send their camper with personal sunscreen and/or bug spray.  We will have some provided at camp and only apply to those campers who do not have allergies listed to these items on their health form.
